All Faculty & Staff

It is both my privilege and my pleasure to work at Eden Gardens Magnet. I have been employed by Caddo Parish Schools since 1985. I became the counselor at Eden Gardens in 2000, then the Principal in December of 2014. I am happily married to Mark Allen, who also works for Caddo Parish Schools as Classified Personnal Administrator. We have two sons, Tyler and Ryne, both of whom received the very best elementary education here in the garden. I was a mom here for ten years before I became part of the faculty. I personally know the amount of commitment and personal attention that it takes to both be a parent and a faculty member here at Eden Gardens. Even though our nest is “empty,” my husband and I stay very busy keeping up with our jobs and our boys. In my free time I love to cook, scrapbook, entertain and play tennis. Your children are the very best of each day here as the principal of our great school. Thank you for sharing them with us. They are a blessing.

Zara Collins Fifth Grade Science/Social Studies

Zara Collins, here. When students are dropped off in my classroom, their education is in their hands and mine. My great passion is molding these young minds to be great citizens and great thinkers. I help them to try, fail, and try again. I help them to learn and grow individually and with each other. I help them to use technology as a tool for their education. That’s what I do and why I’m here.

I know that there are many approaches to teaching however, I’m trained in computer literacy and Web 2.0 tools, which means you’ll likely see a lot of tech use in my room. My educational background includes a BS in Elementary Education from LSU Shreveport. When I’m not shaping minds, I enjoy museums, theme parks, and taking care of my indoor plants.
